We're Trying Something (Virtually) New

Coronavirus and social distancing present us with a new challenge at the End of Watch Foundation and it’s one that I’m hopeful we can overcome together.

The Problem

We can’t come together.

My home state of Florida is under a Stay-At-Home Order right now. No one can gather in groups and activities are limited to only those that are considered essential.

Before these changes, each month we would get together with other volunteers to ruck one mile for every officer who died in the line of duty from the previous month. You can learn more about monthly rucks here: EOWF - Monthly Rucks.

We bring our friends in the community together to ruck and show that we’re willing to go the distance for those we have lost. The coronavirus and social distancing practices, which are important for protecting the safety and health of others, have made that impossible.

The Solution

Virtual rucks.

We’ve always encouraged people to follow along and post on social media about their efforts using #EOWMR and #EOWF. While we’re practicing social distancing, it’s really the only way we can maintain our monthly rucks.

Most, if not all, Stay-At-Home Orders allow for exercise and rucking can be a great way to get out and stretch your legs.

So this weekend, I’ll be heading out, alone, and rucking for the officers who fell in the line of duty posting to encourage others to do the same.

I hope to (virtually) see you too.
